Titus (Christopher Titus) thinks his girlfriend Erin (Cynthia Watros) is cheating on him and goes to her place of work with his brother Dave (Zack Ward) and friend Tommy (David Shatraw) to confront her.

Christopher and Dave become worried when their father Ken (Stacy Keach) does not come out of his room for four days – not even to get a beer. Along with Erin and Tommy, the brothers contemplate life without dad.

Ken has Dave arrested for trying to steal a VCR. When Christopher admits to helping Dave move out, Ken has him arrested as an accomplice.

After a fight, Christopher and Erin break up – and proceed to sleep with other people.

Titus refuses, on principle, to add a racing wing to a custom hot rod, while Tommy, Dave, Erin, and Ken try to change his mind.

While driving to his father’s birthday party in a custom-made car for Ken, Titus and the gang become the target of a gun-toting motorist.

When Christopher’s manic-depressive schizophrenic mother, Juanita, unexpectedly appears at the Titus house, Christopher remains suspicious of her, while the others – even Ken – accept that she has gotten better.

Christopher, Erin, Tommy, and Dave stage an intervention for Ken Titus after learning that Ken has stopped drinking and his sobriety is making him a miserable, boring old man.

When Christopher learns the real reason behind Ken’s car accident, he pulls a prank on his father – and ends up causing his father’s latest heart attack.
